The Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato is making production, thank goodness.
Good news and bad news. Good news first, as I predicated the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato (possibly the best looking car ever?) will reach production. Bad news, it’s only going to be made in a limited run of 99 models. More bad news, the have all been sold already.
The lucky 99 will have needed deep wallets though as each Vanquish Zagato is rumoured to be around the £500,000 point. Which is a steep increase over the £194,000 for the standard Vanquish.
The Zagato’s will be built at Astons Gaydon factory following “unprecedented customer demand” and customers are expected to take delivery next year. The production car will remain unchanged from the stunning concept showed at the Concorso d’Eleganza event at Villa d’Este in Italy last month.
The 6.0 litre V12 gets a 24bhp boost to 592bhp and a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds. The suspension and other components have also been fiddled with the make sure that the Vanquish Zagato is extra special to drive.
If you are still thinking that half a million pound is a lot of money for a car then I have two reasons which may sway you. 1) A pair of Rembrant paintings sold for $180 million last September (you can’t even drive those) and 2) previous Zagato Aston’s have been resold for more than £10 million (a mint Zagato DB4 GT).
